Repairing Damaged Bleached Hair

A couple weeks ago I decided to go blonde. Knowing that I would have to bleach my hair a couple times to lift the color I knew I had to find something to help repair my hair afterwards. I took my dyed black hair through many stages of decolorizing over a week. Right now I’m at a medium blonde. I plan to go lighter, but giving my hair a much needed break. I bleached 2 times with volume 30 & tried a bleach bath a few days later. My hair was pretty dull, brittle and dry. I needed to get the shine & softness back and have healthy looking hair again. I’ve been showing it lots of TLC lately. Here are the products I’ve been using and having good results with.

Shampoo: TIGI Bed Head Color Combat Dumb Blonde
Conditioner: Snobgirls Volume & Shine Vitamin Conditioner
Hair Mask: Cortex Hair mask Repair Formula
I lovelovelove this hair mask. I use it about 3 times a week and you apply it to clean moist hair. It only takes 7-10 minutes. I’ve noticed my hair getting softer again since adding this to my hair care routine. It helps restore lipids and protein to damaged, color treated and chemically treated hair.
Leave in Nourish & Shine: Garnier Fructis Color Shield
Heat & UV Protector: got2b Smooth Operator
Remember when your bleaching your hair at home to take care and don’t rush it. You don’t want to fry your hair and have it breaking off on you. I suggest heading to a beauty supply store and picking up powder bleach & 30 volume peroxide. I found that it works better than store bought bleach kits. I am not a hair colorist though, so what works for me might not work for you. I’m going off the many times I’ve bleached & colored my hair at home. If you have dark hair and your going to blonde your lifting your color many levels and some aren’t very pleasant, but it will happen and you will get past it.

Hair Bleaching Stages

Starting hair color: Dyed black with red undertones since I had bright red hair before that.
After the first bleach: Reddish/Orange. My roots went super light since it was my natural hair. This stage was horrible.
Second Bleach: It got way lighter, but still had orange tones.
After bleach bath: Looking better and wasn’t so bad going out in public
For now I ended up putting on a medium blonde dye and letting my hair rest for a month.
