My Nails of the day are inspired by cotton candy. I don’t own a aqua, teal, or anything close to the color I needed, but I did have a eyeshadow pigment that was the exact color I was wanting. So I decided to come up with my own DIY nail color. It was pretty simple and I’m happy with the results.
What you need
- Clear Nail Polish ( I used a bottle that was half gone)
- Fine Color Pigment ( I used an eyeshadow pigment)
- Small Funnel
- Extra – If you want you could add in fine glitter if that’s the look your going for
All you need to do it mix the pigment into the clear nail polish and close the lid and shake. Simple. If you use less pigment you will have more of a translucent color and use more for a brighter more opaque result. With the aqua color I made above I only needed 2 coats to get a nice even result.

wow that is just a really cool idea and so much cheaper then buying colour nail varnish.

Proud moment..Lol
Great idea!! Did you notice it was thicker or harder to apply?

I didn’t find it any harder to apply. I did do 2 coats though, but I normally do that anyways with any brand I use. Oh and finished it off with a clear top coat.
Another great bit of information for my teen. I can send her to the dollar store and watch her get fabulous! What a wonderful idea for a polish color you might love but don’t really want to invest in. Just sharing a little karmablogger love….
