Revlon Scented Nail Polish: Raspberry Rapture

This is a first for me.  I have never used a scented nail polish before and was wondering how it would work out.  I only picked up Raspberry Rapture, but they have a bunch of other scents/colors to choose from.  The above picture was taken after two coats of Raspberry Rapture outside without flash.

When wet the nail polish does not have scent, but once it dries you can  notice the scent easily.  It’s nothing over powering though and chances are only you will smell it unless you have people sniffing your fingers?! The scent reminded me of the scented markers from back in elementary school.  Which I don’t mind.  Than the real test came just how long would the scent last for?  I’m a busy mama and my hands are always cleaning something so, I was wondering if the scent would fade quickly.  To my surprise it still had a the raspberry scent a week later.

Little Tip: I found some at my local dollarama over the last couple months, so if you want to try them out for $2 head over and see what they have.

Homemade Nail Polish

My Nails of the day are inspired by cotton candy.  I don’t own a aqua, teal, or anything close to the color I needed, but I did have a eyeshadow pigment that was the exact color I was wanting.  So I decided to come up with my own DIY nail color.  It was pretty simple and I’m happy with the results.

What you need

  • Clear Nail Polish ( I used a bottle that was half gone)
  • Fine Color Pigment ( I used an eyeshadow pigment)
  • Small Funnel
  • Extra – If you want you could add in fine glitter if that’s the look your going for

All you need to do it mix the pigment into the clear nail polish and close the lid and shake.  Simple.  If you use less pigment you will have more of a translucent color and use more for a  brighter more opaque result.  With the aqua color I made above I only needed 2 coats to get a nice even result.

Colorful Polka Dot Nails

Help! My Nail Glue Lid is Glued Shut! What can I do?!…Who knows.  I have 3 that sit on my shelf glued shut.  I’ve tried just about everything.  If anyone has any awesome ideas to save my 3 other bottles let me know.

On the bright side I found nail glue for $1 at Dollarama. So I did some cute, quick and easy colorful polka dots.

Born Pretty Store Acrylic Nails & Dotting Tools

Born Pretty Store

I recently got a chance to try some more products  from Born Pretty Store.  If your not familiar with the store they sell products for nail art and beauty supply.  I love the prices of their products and so far I have been happy with what I’ve tried out.  Their shipping is fast and I received the products in Canada within 2 weeks.  I was surprised at how fast they showed up.  They also offer free shipping worldwide which is awesome.

Moving on…I tried out the 500 full clear false acrylic  nails.  They cost $6.02.  Love the price and the amount that you get is great for any nail art lover like myself.  They are all separated in bags by the nail size.  Since they are clear the color shows up accurately like you see in the nail polish bottle. Easy to apply just use any nail glue and apply to nail and press on.  They are pretty long, but you can choose the size you like best by just trimming them down and using a nail file.  Make sure to be careful when filing your acrylic nails so, you don’t split or chip them.  Overall I’m excited to have 500 and will have a great time doing my nails.  My natural nails are weak and I can never seem to grow them out so, these are a must for me.  Below you can see the nails once they were trimmed down, filed, painted and dotted!

The second product I picked was the dotting tools.  Making dots have never been easier.  For $4.74 you get 5 dotting pens.  I picked the pink set.  Each dotting pen has two ends.  Each side has a different size.  Don’t be fooled by the name of them you can also use them to produce other looks including marbling, swirls, mixing colors,  adding texture to your nails, applying glue, and rhinestones.  They are easy to clean afterwards I just used a little nail polish remover and they are waiting for their next use.
