Repaint Your Kitchen
Perhaps the simplest, yet very effective way to change the appearance of your kitchen is to give it a fresh coat of paint. You would be surprised just how much colors and other visual elements have an impact on us and out moods.
When it comes to kitchens, most designers will agree that a three-color option is the best. There is always the dominant color which will cover the majority of your kitchen – typically it’s something like white, grey or even brown. In addition to that color, you need to have a complementary neutral color which you can use on some smaller surfaces or just for certain items – to provide some contrast.
Finally, adding a vivid, bright color as an accent will really draw the eye towards an element, or an area. This accent color can be additionally boosted by proper lighting choices as well.
Choose a Center Point of Your Kitchen
Colors are not the only thing that can draw attention when you enter a room. In every room, there is an area that immediately draws people’s attention. Whether it is going to be your kitchen island or a stove, or maybe your dining table and chairs – that’s for you to decide.
Once you do, however, you can put your main focus on that particular area or item. Installing a brand new natural stone countertop is an amazing idea for a kitchen renovation project. But if you bury it under a bunch of different items and not display it properly, it may feel like a wasted opportunity.
Have You Considered Your Shelves?
Kitchen cabinets are an important part of your kitchen. After all, that’s half the function of the kitchen – storing your food to be easily accessible to you when you want to cook it. However, closed kitchen cabinets have been around for so long that people are starting to get bored of them. Instead, they are opting for open shelves, at least in parts of their kitchens.
There are certain items in your kitchen that you really should keep in a dark and dry area, which is why you shouldn’t get rid of all closed cabinets, and instead opt to combine them. Having both types of storage options also helps with decorations.
If you have an eye for detail, you can just imagine how you can sort all of your spices on an easy to reach and visually appealing spice rack.
Naturally, if you feel like your kitchen needs a bit more help than that, you can opt for a full remodel and completely redo your kitchen. This is the best way to really be in control of the whole process from start to finish and to ensure that you have the best kitchen that suits your needs to a letter.
